If 2020 feels heavy, listen to this

Y’all know there’s a lot going on right now. Whether you’re in lockdown or not. It doesn’t matter where you are, we all know that 2020 is a lot. It’s heavy and we all recognise it. But I’m not here to tell you that it’s heavy. You already know that because we’re getting blasted with images, stories, videos all over our social media platforms. And if you let all that in, if you let yourself go down a rabbit hole of all the bad shit that’s happening right now, you’ll start to feel really heavy.

So instead of focusing on all the things that are happening out there that are out of your control, this is my invitation for you to come back to yourself. Pay attention to your immediate surroundings. Pay attention to how you’re feeling, thinking, behaving and whether you’re serving your own needs and the needs of those around you.

If you’re doing your part, if you’re showing up for yourself, then you’re able to show up for others. It’s that simple. Don’t get yourself bogged down thinking about all the bad shit that’s happening, just come back in and work on what you need.

Now I’m not saying don’t support the causes that you want to support, that’s not it at all. All I’m saying is, focus on what you can control right now and take a fucking breath ya’ll. 2020 is a marathon not a sprint and you need to pace yourself. Compassion fatigue is real and if you’re getting overwhelmed, that’s not going to help anybody.
