Privilege Guilt vs Privilege Awareness

With everything that’s going on right now in the USA around the murder of George Floyd, I have been feeling really heavy. So I decided to record an IGTV to address a lot of the comments, posts and conversations I was witnessing online. If you’d like to go and watch the IGTV, head to my Instagram.

My love, we need to stop feeling guilty for being privileged and start taking action to make change. I keep reading posts from people feeling sorry for their privilege. Feeling guilt and shame around their privilege and the way they grew up. Like, they don’t know how to act, how to respond because of their privilege.

My message to you is this: Don’t be sorry or guilty about your privilege. It’s not your fault that you grew up white, in the suburbs with lots of money. That’s not your fault. Don’t feel sorry about it, be AWARE of it and know that it’s your responsibility to learn what’s going on in the world. Learn about those that have not grown up privileged and use your voice in a way that will help humanity.

Don’t stay silent. Humanity needs to be better than this.
